If you cannot give blood — either because there is nothing available near you, or because you are not eligible to donate — a private venesection does the same job. Approximately 470ml of blood is taken and disposed of as clinical waste, rather than being used for donation.
This is a paid service
You book and pay the provider directly. We are not able to contribute to or refund the cost, because the booking is not made through us.
| Provider | Price | Where and how to book |
| Eval Blood Analysis | £50 per session | Availability varies by location. Book directly through their website. |
| Kratos Medical | £89 per session | Clinics in Cardiff, Nottingham and Manchester. Book directly online. |
| Phlebo | £90 per session | Clinic in Bristol. The code MANUAL10 gives £10 off a first appointment. They also offer an at-home nurse visit. |
| Olive Health & WellZone | £110 per session | Clinics in Bermondsey and Ilford, by referral only. Please contact us first and we will arrange a referral letter and a summary of your blood test. |
| Vitalis Health | Varies | The venesection option in Northern Ireland. |
Prices are set by the provider and may change. Other private providers can also be found online.
Through the NHS instead
It is worth asking your GP whether a venesection can be arranged on the NHS. Waiting times can sometimes be longer than a private appointment.
If you need a letter
Where you have already been turned away from donating, we can provide a venesection letter. Every letter is checked and approved by one of our doctors before it is sent, so please allow a little time. Email us at trt@manual.co.
If you have not yet tried donating, start with How do I donate blood? — it is free.
