What is Finasteride?

Finasteride is a prescription medicine commonly used to treat male pattern baldness at the crown and in the middle of the scalp. It is currently the most effective hair loss medication available. The medicine works by decreasing the amount of a natural body hormone known as DHT. Decreasing the amount of DHT leads to increased hair growth and slower hair loss. Hair growth on other parts of the body is not affected by finasteride.
